Keepin it short...

Not a whole lot of internet access and this leg of the tour, and no need. The road is treating us well and life is fucking fantastic.

Listen to the Effort.

That is all.

This band is done.

The rumors are true, we will be calling it quits come June.

Just so nothing negative starts circling, there is no bad blood between any
of us, this was a mutual decision. We are all still great friends, and
will remain that way. To put it simply, a few of us are moving and it
just felt like it was time to end it. We've been going at this for 4
years and have accomplished far past what we ever thought we would.
We've put out a few records, went on numerous tours, made some lifelong
friends, and saw the fucking country with each other. None of us could
have asked for a better experience with this band. Hardcore and punk
rock have changed our lives, so go out and start your own band, get in
the van, and see the fucking world.

That being said, we have a month long final tour coming up from May 12 - June 12, partly with our friends The Effort and partly with our Illinois brothers Black Teeth.
All of the dates are posted on our main page.

Our last show will be held in June. The details are as follows...

Friday, June 12, 2009

Take Control

Hercules
Nothing To Nothing
Agress

Amvets Post 19

There will be no reunion shows, no last gasps, this is it. This show is for
anyone who ever gave a fuck about this band. See you on the road.

Update 3.17.09

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame was awesome. Even more awesome, its free if you're in a touring band, so us and TGA hit that up for sure. Hours of entertainment. If you're ever in the area and on tour, do yourself a favor and check it out.

The show at Tower 2012 was awesome. The first band, the Greivants from Rochester, Ny played their own brand of experimental tunes that was well put together, high energy, and extremely fun to watch. Extremely nice dudes to boot. I picked up a 7", and look forward to hearing what it sounds like on record. Both us and The Golden Age played some pretty tight sets. I was very happy with how both went. The Golden Age covers Strife's "Stand as One" and kids dug the shit out of that. After the show we drove down to Parkersburg, WV where we would be playing the next night. Some shenanigans with the dog from Sandlot and jeffs hand happened, and we ended up heading to the hospital to get jeff checked out the next day. I took a bathroom bath in the sink there, coming out of it feeling like a new man, and we all ate very full hospital meals for very reasonable prices. I was stoked, not so much on what Jeff had to do though. We headed back to the show and hung out for a bit. There was 4 bands on the bill, so it was a relatively short show, which was fine, as a few of the shows we had been playing previously were getting over pretty late, so it was kind of a nice change in pace. Locals Enlighten played first, then Under Anchor from Detroit, TGA did their set, and then we closed out the night. I had pretty high expectations of this show because of the last time we played Parkersburg sometime in the middle of last year. This show definitely met those expecations. we all had a lot of fun playing this garage. Can't wait to come back to the area. After the show we all went to Buffalo Wild Wings and munched on french fries and potato wedges to our hearts content, then went back to the house and crashed.

We got up yesterday morning and slowly but surely all cleaned up and hopped in our respective vans to hit the road. The weather along the drive was kind of shitty, which wasn't necessarily bad, as I like driving in the rain for some reason. We got to Lousiville and headed straight to our friend Doug's house to follow him to the show. We played at a hall type thing in the vein of our local amvets, which is something that we are used to sound and feel wise, so it was pretty nice. When we got to Lousville, it was absolutely gorgeous, so we all walked around and skateboarded and chilled outside until the show kicked off. The power kept going out during our set, probably due to all the hard rockin that was going down, but we had fun regardless. Rattletooth played last, it was Brendans last show, and it was a hodge podge of rediculous shit happening. Both him and their new vocalist Tyler took quite the beating during their set, between accidental take-downs and microphone attacks I was pretty surprised that they both came out on the other side alive. Good to see local support for a great fucking local band. Check Rattletooth out on myspace if you haven't already. SIQ TUNES. After the show we headed to Denny's, met a local celebrity, and then came to doug's and crashed.

Currently, everyone besides Doug, his cats, and I are still fast asleep. Clarksville, TN is tonight at a rad venue called the Coup that Giants played when I went with them this last winter. I have high hopes for the show this evening and there's only a couple shows left this tour.....

Delaware last night....

....this show fucking ripped.

We left Marios around 2 and hit the road. Unfortunately we had to go right through NYC and hit some decently heavy traffic that turned a three and half hour trip into a 5 1/2 hour trip, but whatever. Ben was a champ, and despite his extreme dislike of driving in inner city traffic he plowed through and adapted the shitty angry attitude that you need to survive driving through the big apple. The show itself was at the University of Delaware in a student services building. We got there a little late, but no one had started yet and only half the bands were loaded.

Crucial Dudes played first. Pop punk hardcore ala early Set Your Goals. It was definitely a tight sound, and people seemed to dig it. Cut short played next and killed it. They covered Straight Edge Revenge by Project X and played a really tight set of originals. Apparently they played another cover at the end of their set, but I can't remember what it was. We played next, and kids seemed to get into it. I know I had a blast. We did the Floorpunch cover and played about 7 of our own. Lots of kids in the room, so there was a good energy level. The Golden Age was up next. This band tore it up. Their humor seems to mirror ours pretty well, so I have high expectations of what this last week of tour with them will bring. Today we are playing Tower 2012 in Cleveland, and us and the GA will be spending the day at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Stoked....

Mid-tour update

Sorry, it took me so long to update, so ill do a quick recap of this tour so far.
Columbia show was awesome, definitely one of our best Como shows so far. If you were there, thanks so much, you guys all made that show super legit. We played a new jam that we had gone in to record at Chris's the night before the tour. It went pretty fairly well. Boston Tony took some pretty legit pictures of a few sets. Check those out at www.artripoli.com.

The next day Just Do It! from Des Moines and us headed to Springfield, MO and played a living room. Super stoked on the show. Only the Brave played first. Really tight local band, kind of sounded like With Honor style hardcore. Nice dudes, and tight set. Just Do It! played next and mosh was brought, kids went off and had a good time. I was super stoked that those dudes were there and played. Carlton Banks made a special appearance as well.

On Sunday night we played in Mountain Home, AR in a garage. We get there in the afternoon and one of the dudes living there Chad takes us to a rock quarry and despite it being cold, we all run and jump off this rock ledge into the quarry a few times. So much fun, it was pretty refreshing to get into some water. We felt like men for sure. The show itself was dope. I love garage/house shows, it's our favorite. These kids knew how to have a good time too. We had a fucking blast playing, hung out for a little bit then hit the road. We had a twelve hour drive to Johnson City to play with Paint it Black, so we drove through the night and pulled into town the next afternoon, after you factor in all the stops. The show was alot of fun. All the bands that played were rad, and it was great to see Paint it Black. Lots of good things to say, and very tight band.

Mondays show was a bit of a backtrack to Knoxville. We slept in a Walmart parking lot again, had a parking lot feast of cold canned baked beans and creamed corn and then passed out. i got woken up by the store manager who clearly was not stoked and more than a little nervous to be waking me up, but I was pretty friendly and we packed up and shipped out. We played the show at the Longbranch Saloon which was pretty fun. Lots of punk/powerviolence bands playing. It was cool. That night we drove to Lemoyne PA to play the Championship with Alarmed and She Rides. Handful of kids were at the show, but we had fun playing anyways. Alarmed was tight. Check them out at myspace.com/alarmedrock. We had checked into a hotel that afternoon. We'd been spending alot of the time sleeping in the van and parking lots. We we're a little worn out, and all definitely needed a shower, so we splurged and partied at a Ramada for the night. Marco Polo is where it's at. After we checked out of the hotel we started driving up to Wappingersfalls, NY for out show last night at the Montrose Basement. So much fun. Great venue, and those kids were rad. We had a legit time for sure. We all went to a diner afterwards to hang out, and then we came to our friend Mario's to crash.

Tonight we play Newark, DE and meeting up with the Golden Age from Texas, who we will be with for the rest of the tour. Stoked. I'll try and stay on top of this blog for the rest of the tour.

An update.....

So, it's been awhile and I feel like I have alot to catch up on. The 7" is more or less out already. We have two colors with us, but if you want to pick up all three as a package, head over to www.organizedcrimerecords.com for a discount on getting all three. We had a 7" release weekend with Old Men, Dead Dogs and Wholehearted from Wisconsin. All the shows we're fucking great. I would go show by show and explained what I liked, but every show was everything I could have asked for and more. Thanks to anyone who came out to any of those shows and thanks to OMDD and Wholehearted for hanging out with us.

Thursday night we left around 11 or 12 to drive to Louisville and got here sometime yesterday morning. Slept all day and just chilled out. I think everyone's been pretty busy while we're home so it was nice to have nothing on the agenda for the day. The show last night was in Louisville at a venue called Skull Alley. It was a great show, awesome turnout and lots of rad kids. It was a good way to kick off this weekend. Tonight we're playing at the Black Sheep Cafe in Springfield, IL. We're stoked for the show, so if you live within driving distance, make sure to head to the show.

As for what's coming up, we've got a tour in March with the band the Golden Age from Texas, and a summer load of dates in the works. We'll be doing two full US tours this summer along with a Central America tour in the middle of July. We will be out with Ill Intent, Black Teeth, The Effort, and Wholehearted to name a couple this summer, so make sure you check out all those guys, and head over to Organized Crime Records website and pick up those 7"s.

Thanks guys!

To wrap-up

The tour was phenomenal. Thanks to everyone who made it what is was. The last few shows were great, and crucial hangs were had with our boys in and with Fare Thee Well. For now, we're back to the daily grind. Working and school and trying to stay warm here in freezing, cold Iowa. If you want to see pictures of the final few shows, we threw them up on our myspace. Check those out at www.myspace.com/takecontrolhc. Thanks so much. The test presses for the Trapped Inside 7"s should be in soon. Look for that in January. In the mean time, I will be on tour with the band Giants (myspace.com/giantsmusic) and will be posting in a personal blog on that tour. I'll make sure to throw that link on here as it comes, and will keep updates on Take Control here on this blog.

Until next time!
